Magazine Cover Final

Photographed by Mitch Feinberg "After the marathon bombings, we wanted to be the magazine the city deserved and needed at that moment. The marathon was just four days before our ship date, but we scratched our cover and main feature and threw ourselves into honoring the runners and victims as best we could. The cover image is made up completely of shoes that ran this year’s marathon, and we were proud to tell their stories. We were even more proud that the sale of our May cover posters raised over $120,000 for the One Fund." This is my favorite cover from the website. I really like the colors used in the cover. I think that the title is a good size so that it can be seen from far away. I also think that the title of the magazine is very easy to read because it is big, it is spaced out nicely, and the color sticks out from the rest of the magazine. I think that the idea of putting a bunch of shows together and forming a heart in the middle was a creative id

1. I chose this photo because I like how it captured some well known celebrities in one picture. I like how they all look so happy to be there with each other. 2. This picture was taken by Bradley Cooper during the 2014 Oscars. Ellen Degeneres wanted to get a group selfie with many other celebrities The picture was retweeted over 3 million times and was used as advertising for Samsung because the picture was taken on her Samsung phone. 3. I learned in the interview with Bradley Cooper that the picture was originally just going to be Ellen and Meryl Streep but they were having trouble getting both of them in the picture so Bradley Cooper offered to take the picture. In the end he took the picture as a selfie and other celebrities got into it. 4. 5. Bradley Cooper January 5th, 1975 Philadelphia, PA The New School (2000) 1. I picked this picture because I liked how it captured a small moment in time that couldn't even be seen by the naked eye. 2. Harold Ed

https://blog.phowd.com/2014/09/7-tips-shooting-great-portrait-photographs/ a. The article talked about different tips and tricks to keep in mind while taking pictures of models. For example, the article said to make your model get out of their comfort zone a little bit but still feel comfortable. Another idea to think about when taking pictures is having your model look away from the camera to give a cool effect. b. I learned that you should leave some negative space in the picture around the model to show the background a little bit instead of cropping just the models face. The website also said to break some of the rules of photography so that your picture can stand out from other photographer's pictures. c.  The site related to photography because it talked about tips and tricks to use as a photographer to get a good picture. https://blog.ted.com/how-to-create-a-killer-timelapse-with-joe-capra/ a. Blog #1 Magazine Tips

1. Avoid a weak cover by not messing with it too much. 2. Make one element of your poster dominant. 3. Make it fit the interest of your viewers. 4. Never trim a printout.  5. Experiment with your magazine cover to make it look as unique as possible.

Fashion Ethics

1. In the video they made her neck look longer and thinner and her eyes bigger. Before they even took the picture they out a lot of makeup on her and did her hair. 2. In the video I noticed that they made the model look way thinner than she was. They then made her skin look clearer and a different shade. They also applied a lot of makeup and a wig making her almost like a barbie. 3. In this video they photoshopped a piece of pizza into a model. They changed the pizza around and changed all of the colors and shapes to make a model out of it. I think that this took it way too far. 4. I don't think that it is ethically acceptable to change what a person's appearance in photos because they are advertising things that aren't real. They are also making other people feel bad because the models have "no flaws" but in reality it is photoshopped to appear that way. 5. It would be more wrong to change what models look like when advertising makeup or clothes because t

Portraits and Self Portraits Intro

Image
Another element of randomness that you can introduce to your portraits is the way that you light them. There are almost unlimited possibilities when it comes to using light in portraits. Side-lighting can create mood, backlighting and silhouetting your subject to hide their features can be powerful. Unobtrusive candids seek to be fly-on-the-wall images that catch people going about their business seemingly unaware of the camera and the photographer. This yields images that are more toward the objective end of the objective/subjective continuum, though there is not, of course, any photograph made by a human that is completely objective. Candids with consent, made when the photographer is actively engaged with the subject and the subject is conscious of this involvement, are very different. Photographs are records of the photographer's relationship with his or her subject. In consensual candids, the relationship can be either obvious (the subject looks directly into the camera)

1. Friday, September 11, 2009 Ian joins the army to help fight for his country. His friends and family threw parties for him to say goodbye. As he started basic training he soon had second thoughts about his decision. A childhood injury came back as he fell on his left elbow after the first day of basic training. He could of possibly been disqualified from performing service because he never mentioned this injury earlier in time. Basic training was tough and he got little sleep. He started to build bonds with the other soldiers as the training continued. He then received weapons and started completing practices to get ready for Iraq later on. September 12, 2009 Ian becomes stressed by training and other things on his mind. He comes home to visit family and friends and him and his girlfriend, Kayla, pick out an engagement ring. After his breakup with Kayla later in the year his dad feels like this has made him use drugs, smoke, and start other bad habits. He continues to have train

American Soldier

Image
  A) I think that this is the most powerful picture because it shows Fisher and the other soldiers getting in position but they are all probably nervous about their journey and if they are going to come out alive in the end.  B) The images work together because they all go in order to tell his story as a soldier. They start with him as a young soldier and then later he ends up getting married after coming back from Iraq. C) Captions enhance the photo by explaining what is going on in the photo and what is yet to come. The captions also help give more detail on what might not be able to be taken away by just the picture. D) Ian started as a young soldier who was hurt. He then confirmed that he was going to be enlisted in the army. Ian then graduates high school and meets in the army recruiting office to discuss what training is like and what to expect in Iraq. His family and friends threw goodbye parties for him, sad to see him go. Ian says bye to his family and gets ready f

Jenna Flukenburger walks into her local market wearing her favorite shirt. She smiled through the pain and took her senior discount. In this picture we see a rare Mary Sue in her usual meal spot. She forgot the speed limit was over 2 miles per hour. Granny Smith is trying to figure out how the wii remote works. What she didn't know is that she was trying to turn on the TV.

Mural Project Preview

1) I think that we could do a nature theme. We could have different pictures of flowers, plants, trees, and wildlife. We could put our pictures in the shape of a tree or flower. 2) When we are shooting in manual we will have to think about aperture, shutter speed, and our overall exposure. We should always have good exposure because we can see how our picture will turn out on the little meter within the camera. 3) I think that to get these pictures online we could make an instagram for our group and post the pictures in an instagram layout. We could also make a flickr account to display the pictures. Lastly, we could post our pictures on our blog or a website after we lay them all out on a google docs or something.

Abandoned Theme Parks

Image
1) I would want to go to   Okpo Land, Okpo-Dong, South Korea because there is a lot of vegetation and I think that it would be cool because all of the plants and trees started to grow and take over once the park was abandoned. I would want to see a place where humans no longer go. The park would be interesting to see all the rides that hold up and the ones that fall apart and no longer work. I think that the parks would also be scary because there aren't any people and the rides are all not working anymore. 2) 3) I think that a desert, island, beach, forest, or abandoned school would be interesting to photographers because they might like places where there aren't many people present. I think somewhere where the conditions are harsh would be a good place to shoot because you could find places to take pictures where many people haven't gone and might find interesting. 4) This is an abandoned school in Cleveland. This was recorded by a yahoo news reporter. 5

Africa and Abandoned Theme Parks

Image
1) I thought that the pictures were very good quality and the angles he took the pictures at made them look almost fake or like they were photoshopped or staged. I thought that it was cool how scary some of the pictures looked. I liked how he put all of his pictures in black and white to add to the mysterious effect. I think that it was really cool how close he got to the animals and how clear the pictures were considering the animals were probably all in motion when he was taking the pictures. 2) 3) This picture shows a mama lion holding her cub in her mouth. I like this picture because it shows real life events in Africa. I think that it is cool that he captured a moment like this without having the lion looking at him. I also really like the focus in this picture. 4) I think that in my photo the rule simplicity is present because the lions are the main focus in the picture and the background is pretty blurred out. I think that this picture also shows the rule of

Warm-up

Warm-up 1. At the beginning I felt happy seeing the couple come together and be happy. As the pictures went on I became sad and started to feel the emotions that the husband must of felt and captured in the images. 2. I think this comment showed that the pictures were showing their life every step of the way as they felt they saw it. He wanted to capture each moment so that he could look back on them and remember his journey with her from beginning to end. 3. I think if I were in this situation I wouldn't want to capture those moments because they would make me sad. If I was strong enough to capture them and not cry every time I saw them then I think it would be cool to share the little moments with the world so everyone could see how I felt and what I had to live with everyday. 4. I would tell him that I have seen people who have showed how hard it is to have a loved one with cancer and not knowing what's going to happen next. When someone has cancer everyday is a blessin

1) This picture caught my eye because you can feel movement in the river. I like how the photographer included many different aspects in the photo. 2) I see the mountains in the background with the clouds hovering above them. I also see the river flowing throughout the picture. The sun is hiding within the clouds in the background.  I smell the fumes from the forest of trees nearby. I smell the fresh water as it flows to the ocean. The fresh smell of flowers enters my nose.  I hear the birds and owls hiding in the forest. I hear the water hit the land nearby. The buzz of bugs flying around my face catches my ear.  I taste the humidity from the clouds above me. As the water flows below my mouth waters for some fresh water. I taste the fresh water from nearby.  I feel the cool breeze blowing across the mountain top. I feel the spiky pines from the trees poking me as I walk to set up my camera. I feel the condensation from the clouds above the mountains touch my skin making me s
