Africa and Abandoned Theme Parks

1) I thought that the pictures were very good quality and the angles he took the pictures at made them look almost fake or like they were photoshopped or staged. I thought that it was cool how scary some of the pictures looked. I liked how he put all of his pictures in black and white to add to the mysterious effect. I think that it was really cool how close he got to the animals and how clear the pictures were considering the animals were probably all in motion when he was taking the pictures.

3) This picture shows a mama lion holding her cub in her mouth. I like this picture because it shows real life events in Africa. I think that it is cool that he captured a moment like this without having the lion looking at him. I also really like the focus in this picture.

4) I think that in my photo the rule simplicity is present because the lions are the main focus in the picture and the background is pretty blurred out. I think that this picture also shows the rule of balance because the lion takes up a good amount of the photo but there is a pretty even amount of space around the lion on each side.

5) To take his pictures he used a Pentax 6711 with two fixed lenses according to wikipedia. This is important because it helped him get very good quality pictures in focus.

6) He wanted to capture these pictures because he wanted to take pictures of the animals before they were killed off by humans. He wanted to show how cool the animals are and what their environment looks like before it is destroyed, "by the hands of men", as it says on wikipedia.

7) He hopes that if he can show people how the environment is running and what the healthy animals look like he can try to persuade people to not hunt or kill them for their resources. He wants to try to also show what is happening to these animals so they can see how sad and impacting this problem is.

8) "The photos are my elegy to these beautiful creatures, to this wrenchingly beautiful world that is steadily, tragically vanishing before our eyes." This quote from wikipedia shows that he likes Africa because he gets to capture the beautiful animals there.
