Fashion Ethics

1. In the video they made her neck look longer and thinner and her eyes bigger. Before they even took the picture they out a lot of makeup on her and did her hair.

2. In the video I noticed that they made the model look way thinner than she was. They then made her skin look clearer and a different shade. They also applied a lot of makeup and a wig making her almost like a barbie.

3. In this video they photoshopped a piece of pizza into a model. They changed the pizza around and changed all of the colors and shapes to make a model out of it. I think that this took it way too far.

4. I don't think that it is ethically acceptable to change what a person's appearance in photos because they are advertising things that aren't real. They are also making other people feel bad because the models have "no flaws" but in reality it is photoshopped to appear that way.

5. It would be more wrong to change what models look like when advertising makeup or clothes because they could show what the clothes or makeup looks like, but the models wouldn't even be "normal humans".

6. Changes that are okay are when the photographers may add a cool background behind them or adjust the lighting. Changes that aren't okay are when people change the full appearance of the models.

7. Fashion photography changes things around to try to get people to buy the products while photojournalism tries to use the original picture to correctly show the event.

8. Photojournalism usually shows reality and doesn't have photoshopped pictures while fashion photography twists reality around to try to make people want their product.

9. I think that you showed us these three videos so that we can understand that not all advertisements are credible and how we should make minimal changes to our pictures so we don't end up portraying something that didn't happen exactly as we show it.

10. None of these videos are about guys because people usually don't have to make many changes in hair and makeup with guys. In some magazines people definitely photoshop some of the guys to make them look more "attractive".
