The Dispatch Issue #4

Story #1- New Bowie Bulldog

Summary- This story was talking about how Bowie got called out for plagiarizing the bulldog logo from a college. Any merchandise made before this incident is still able to be used to support Bowie, but anything from now on can't have the logo. Bowie's mascot and logo team are working to change the logo so that it isn't the same as Gonzaga University's logo. Many people are sad to see the original logo be changed but hopefully it will stay relitively similar to the old one.

Summary- This story gets in depth about why Russia was banned from the Winter Olympics this year. Russia was banned because of drug scandal in 2012. 1. The first photo to stand out to me is the biggest photo at the top of the page. The photo highlights the main characters of the play very well by blurring out the background. I feel like the picture could have been a little brighter but it might of been hard because the stage was dark.

2. The photo with the caption step in time stands out on the page because it is pretty bright. The lighting is really good and I feel like the photo is exposed well. The photo shows the rule of thirds with the subject positioned to the right.

3. The last photo to stand out to me is the photo in the right hand corner. The photo shows the subject under a spotlight with a very good exposure. The lighting helps the picture stand out even though it is small and located in the corner of the page.

Page 16-

1. The top photo stands out to me because it is the biggest picture on the page and it is in really good focus. The exposure is good but the photo could be a little brighter. The subject is in focus and the photographer used the rule of thirds to put the pottery piece to the side.

2. The photo towards the middle of the page on the right is exposed very well. The lighting is very good creating a bright picture that catches your attention. The girl and the boy present in the picture are the subjects and it is very easy to tell.

3. The photo on the bottom left corner is exposed pretty well and has the photo in focus. The photographer got a cool angle and had the camera looking down on the pottery by standing above it creating a cool photo.

My favorite photo in the whole newspaper is the picture in the top right corner on page 12. This is my favorite photo because it catches your attention with the pretty colors present in the picture. The exposure is good and the subject is in focus. The photographer uses the rule of thirds by having the subject slightly off center.

My least favorite photo is towards the bottom of page 16. I don't like this photo because the exposure isn't that good and the picture is very dark. There is also a lot going on in the picture background taking away from the subject.

I would have wanted to shoot for the Mary Poppins segment because I saw the musical and I think it would be fun to get to capture some of the exciting moments in the musical.

I think that this issue had pretty good photography with the exception of like 2 photos.
