I chose to explore the PetaPixel website. The intention was to inform people about different stories and information related to photography. The website writes about different cameras and photography supplies that is new and pictures that different people took. People can learn about the history of photography such as how the camera worked a long time ago and how different parts of the camera work. The website also writes about different photographers and how they took good pictures. For example, one of the stories showed a man taking a picture out of a helicopter. There are also reviews about different products used for certain kinds of photography and new lenses or cameras. I think this website is useful if I need inspiration for photos or ways to get certain effects in a picture. I would recommend this website to photographers or people who are trying to learn more about photography. On a scale of 1-5 I would give this website a 5 because I think it includes many things and it is a good source for information, reviews, or inspiration. This website is also played out very nicely so that you an scroll down to read different articles and then click on stories if you are interested in them. I will use this website later on if I need to learn more about different photographers or if I want to see what different photographers are up to.


As I was looking through PetaPixel I found some cool stories. One of them was about a man who took pictures hanging out of a helicopter. A photographer named, Jin-Woo Prensena likes to shoot aerial photos from different places. He went in a helicopter reaching 7,500 feet in the air. Once he was up he got attached to a harness. He hung out of the side of the helicopter and took photos looking straight down. Many factors made it hard to get a photo. There were intense winds, loud noises, and not much balance in the helicopter. Prensena is trying to expand his art to different parts of the world so they can be shared with more and more people. At the end of the article many of his breathtaking pictures were shown. This article along with many others are shown on the website and are very interesting to read and learn about.

If you go back to the same location you can know where the good spots to take pictures are.

Portfolio Analysis

The judges noted that there was not a clear subject, there was an unnecessary background person, and the faces of the subjects were distracting to the picture. d.  The judges liked the humor presented in some of the photos and they liked detail. e. I didn't really like the photographers pictures. I feel like some of them were very random and some of them didn't have anything to do with sports. a. Justin Mott b. The judges noted that the picture could've been sharper and in focus, some of them could've portrayed the story better, and putting the pictures in a specific order. d.
