Personal Essay

1. You should care strongly about your pic and be able to be detailed about your topic.

2. You want to use details and be very specific. Readers don't like reading broad topics.

3. Personal essays come from a personal perspective. A question, strong statement, or metaphor serve as good hooks. Your reader should know how you feel about the topic by the end of the essay.

Portfolio Analysis

a. Josh Birnbaum b. The general focus was sports. c. The judges noted that there was not a clear subject, there was an unnecessary background person, and the faces of the subjects were distracting to the picture. d.  The judges liked the humor presented in some of the photos and they liked detail. e. I didn't really like the photographers pictures. I feel like some of them were very random and some of them didn't have anything to do with sports. a. Justin Mott b.
