1. Some of the objects in the picture could be disoriented because there are different pictures taken in the same place. Some of the shadows could also be off depending on the time of day. 2. I think a good place to take a picture like this on the Bowie Campus would be in front of a wall or building so that there is not random space in the picture and instead a good background. 3. I think that it would be cool to spell something out with this project or I could do one with the different stages of jumping. 4. I could just wear regular clothes if I were to just spell something out.

Portfolio Analysis

a. Josh Birnbaum b. The general focus was sports. c. The judges noted that there was not a clear subject, there was an unnecessary background person, and the faces of the subjects were distracting to the picture. d.  The judges liked the humor presented in some of the photos and they liked detail. e. I didn't really like the photographers pictures. I feel like some of them were very random and some of them didn't have anything to do with sports. a. Justin Mott b. 1. You should care strongly about your pic and be able to be detailed about your topic. 2. You want to use details and be very specific. Readers don't like reading broad topics. 3. Personal essays come from a personal perspective. A question, strong statement, or metaphor serve as good hooks. Your reader should know how you feel about the topic by the end of the essay.

Earthquake Story

At 8:12 a.m. Monday morning an earthquake struck in the San Francisco Bay area. Many people and and buildings were affected by the earthquake. A building housing McHenry’s Auto Supply at 2342 Plum St. partially collapsed, killing two people and injuring six others.  "Names of the dead are being withheld pending notifications of families," Vu,  a public information officer from the Hayward Fire Department said.  Residents in the area explained their experience during and after the earthquake. I  felt a rolling motion that lasted for about 30 seconds, with a big jolt coming in the middle," said  Hayward resident Mike Beamer, whose apartment is across the street from McHenry’s. The earthquake caught most people off guard and interrupted people's daily lives. 53 year old, Janice Jones was shot by her dog around 10 p.m. Wednesday night in Barstow, California. Her dog knocked her gun off a seat and it discharged as it hit the ground and shot through her leg and into the side of her vehicle. “It could have been worse,” Rye said. “The bullet hit two inches from the gas tank .” Even though Jones needed extensive care, the situation could have been even worse if the bullet had hit in a different part of the car. "Jones was transported to Huntington Beach Hospital via ambulance and later was transported to Irvine Medical Center," Rye said. A spokesperson for Huntington Beach Hospital, Jim Washington updated everyone on Jones' conditions. "Jones was treated at the hospital but gave no additional information," Washington said. Jones’ dog, a Pomeranian named Tombo, was placed in the care of the Huntington Beach Animal Control officers. "The dog seemed to be malnourished and had fresh cigarette burns on its f
